Wes Parker voices a test run for Beverly Hills Adjacent
My very talented friend Wes Parker has agreed to help me out with my new spec animation Beverly Hills Adjacent. He voiced this quick test run in his own sound booth at home for a bit in the script where Chanel is being interviewed by the “documentary crew.”
It really amazes me at how accessible creating an animated project really is if you’re willing to spend the time. Most voice over actors have recording equipment in their homes these days and will email you auditions after you email them the script. You could conceivably create an entire 22 minute pilot – heck why not a 90 minute feature film via email and never meet any of your crew. I’ve worked with composers who put final files for me in my dropbox and I pop the track into my online editing system and the film is done…it’s really getting so easy that people are using it as an excuse – “well I can always call my friend up and have him record a voice,” they say.
The problem is, and I’m no exception to this rule, people usually never do it.
I think this project is really coming together already and with some great talent like Wes on board this cartoon pilot might just come together faster than I thought and we might be able to introduce it to the cartoon community.
There’s an old old old version of Beverly Hills adjacent sitting in my shorts/clips if you’re interested in seeing where the germ for the idea came from.
